I understand Nordic Walking allows you to burn 30% more calories as you walk, as you are using your arm muscles to help propel you along. The wrist straps also allow you to release your hold on the poles when you are not pushing with them, e.g. when walking downhill, so you don't have to hold onto the hand grips all the time. On
