Chi by the Sea

Is it me? It's fascinating how one seems to be invisible to, or ignored by, most folk. Stand on a station concourse and people seem to virtually walk into you, presumably expecting you to move aside for them. Walk along the seafront prom and joggers will brush closely past you despite the prom being about 6 metres wide and otherwise deserted! It's almost as if they want to knock you over! People on the autistic spectrum find this a bit challenging - Rosie very much likes her

One of our favourite Kate Bush songs! And a theme tune for one of Rosie's "60 things at 60" Bucket List items - walking around England. A "nominal" version, though, taking us along pilgrim paths and through interesting historic and atmospheric places, rather than just "hugging the coastline". We already live by the sea, so it's nice to venture a bit more inland. Here's a map showing our progress so far. The lines in blue are the bits we've done so far... as at November 2025.

I understand Nordic Walking allows you to burn 30% more calories as you walk, as you are using your arm muscles to help propel you along. The wrist straps also allow you to release your hold on the poles when you are not pushing with them, e.g. when walking downhill, so you don't have to hold onto the hand grips all the time. On
